In Oregon, several legal options exist for immediately giving legal effect to custody matters, including temporary legal custody and parenting time, are set forth in ORS 107.097. There are two types of circumstances addressed by this statute, commonly referred to as emergency custody orders and status quo orders. It is worth noting that this statute allows relief to a “party” and not specifically a parent. This statute is also available to unmarried parents involved in a case under ORS 109.103.
At Clooten Law, our attorneys help their clients wade through these legal options and choose the best temporary order for their situation. The statutes and requirements can be tricky, allow our attorneys to explain your options and dispel the confusion surrounding the process.
